Check your substances portfolio as ECHA has added four new substances to the candidate list
Due to their toxicity to reproduction, endocrine disruption and a combination of other properties, on the 16th of July 2019 ECHA has added four new substances to the candidate list. Substances that are listed on the candidate list may have legal obligations such as the one listed in the Article 33 of REACH for EU articles suppliers. In addition, companies should be aware that substances included on the candidate list are likely to be included in the Authorisation list. If this happens, companies will need to apply for permission to continue using the substance(s) after the sunset date.
With the new inclusion of substances the candidate list contains now 201 substances. The substances recently added are as follows:
Substance name | EC Number | CAS Number |
2-methoxyethyl acetate
| 203-772-9 | 110-49-6 |
Tris(4-nonylphenyl, branched and linear) phosphite (TNPP) with > 0.1% w/w of 4-nonylphenol, branched and linear (4-NP)
| – | – |
2,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-2-(heptafluoropropoxy) propianic acid, its salts and its acyl halides (covering of their individual isomers and combinations thereof)
| – | – |
4-tert-butylphenol | 202-679-0 | 98-54-4 |
We advise companies to have a proactive approach by reviewing and analysing your substances portfolio periodically to anticipate and influence the outcome for their business.
At REACHLaw we are happy to help you to determine the impacts of using vs not using the SVHCs and to create a suitable authorisation strategy for your company.
