UK REACH Update: HSE Opens a Six-Week Consultation on the Proposed Addition of 15 SVHCs to the UK REACH Candidate List

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has opened a six-week consultation on the proposed addition of 15 substances of very high concern (SVHCs) to the UK REACH Candidate List.

This consultation follows the publication of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ new Strategic Approach statement for UK REACH.

To facilitate stakeholder engagement, substances will be assessed in batches. The first group includes substances that already have mandatory classifications under the GB CLP Regulation as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic to reproduction.

The consultation is open until 20 April 2026 and provides an important opportunity for industry to submit information on the identity and hazardous properties of these substances and to assess potential regulatory impacts.
