ChemIndia – Chemicals Inventory of India

The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers at New Delhi hereby directs  to collect  statistics on chemicals and petrochemicals   on various facets including but not limited to production, installed capacity, export, import, sales and other related data of chemical and petrochemical sector mandatorily on ChemIndia Webportal (https://chemindia.chemicals.gov.in/ ) 

 The statistics shall be collected through an on-line portal named ChemIndia  from the Indian chemical and petrochemical registered industries/units in the country on annual as well as on monthly basis in order to create a comprehensive and authentic inventory of the chemical and petrochemicals data in respect of Production Quantity, Installed Capacity, Import, Export and Sales and other data incidental thereto. 

 This information shall serve various parliamentary affairs committees, annual report of the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers and supports policymakers and researchers in formulating policies to encourage best practices and foster optimal industrial development. 

 Purpose 

 The ChemIndia portal provides a user-friendly interface for managing chemical and petrochemical data. It offers tools for data entry, editing, searching, reporting, and compliance monitoring, ensuring efficient data management and regulatory adherence as follows: 

  •  Data Entry and Management: Easily input and manage chemical and petrochemical data, including details of various products, quantities, suppliers, and more.  
  • Analytics and Reports: Generate custom reports and visualize data through graphs and charts to gain insights into trends and patterns.  
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with regulatory guidelines and monitor compliance to ensure adherence to industry standards.  
  • User Roles and Permissions: Assign different roles (e.g., administrator, data entry, viewer) with specific permissions to control access and data manipulation.  
  • Document Management: Store and manage regulatory documents.  
  • User-Friendly Interface: Intuitive design and navigation for easy use by both technical and non-technical users.

For Unit Operator – Entries at portal:

All entries on the portal must be submitted by the unit operator after the relevant unit has been tagged by the company unit.

Description of Chemicals requires unit operators to provide all the details of chemicals and petrochemicals list of main constituents of the substance/ mixture/article with 10% (w/w) or more concentration and Classification and Labelling Information (According to 9th revision of UN-GHS).

Each informant would be required to send the information for every calendar month on or before the 10th day of the following calendar month.

Consider the same cut-off period in reference to Yearly Reporting.

Scope: All premises located in India handling Chemicals & Petro-chemicals

Who needs to report/language/Obligation: Informant located in India.

The owner or manager of a registered unit who would be issued notice by the Statistics Officer shall furnish the required information (in English) about his establishment without fail.

An owner or manager of a unit shall furnish information in the prescribed manner and by a stipulated date every month as mentioned in the notice received by him from the Statistics Officer. He should also furnish relevant inspection records and answer questions about the information sought, as may be required by the Statistics Officer or a person authorised by him.

Fee: No fee for reporting

Verification/Inspection: Yes

The persons authorised by the Statistics Officer would be engaged in the jurisdiction of the Statistics Officer for verification of information furnished by each informant, for inspecting relevant records, and for seeking clarifications, as may be necessary.
