News Alert – Distributors: January 2027 Is an Important EU CLP Deadline

A significant change is coming for distributors under the EU CLP Regulation.

From 1 January 2027, distributors will be formally recognised as duty holders under Article 45, clarifying their role in supporting poison centre notifications (PCNs) and helping close information gaps across the supply chain.

Who needs to pay attention?
  • Companies placing mixtures on the market in a Member State not covered by an existing notification
  • Companies rebranding or relabelling products under their own name or identifiers

Where required, distributors will need to ensure the relevant notification is in place; either by working with the supplier/original notifier or by submitting a notification themselves.

Why act now?

Recent enforcement work found that 19% of inspected hazardous mixtures were not linked to a poison centre notification.

The takeaway for distributors is simple:

Don’t wait for January 2027. Review your products, market coverage and notification responsibilities now.
