BIS releases Checklist for FMCS Applications under Scheme-X (OTR)
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued a detailed Checklist for Foreign Manufacturers’ Certification Scheme (FMCS) applicants under Scheme-X (Omnibus Technical Regulation – OTR).
This checklist provides clear guidance for foreign manufacturers applying for a BIS licence — covering documentation, technical file requirements, authorized Indian representative nomination, and compliance with applicable Indian Standards.
A dedicated module of Manak Online for Scheme-X (OTR) is currently under development for foreign manufacturers.
Until its rollout, applications for Grant of Licence (GoL) can be submitted in hard copy (by courier, post, or in person) for products notified for compulsory BIS licensing under Scheme-X (OTR).
The checklist aims to ensure complete and accurate submissions, supporting smooth certification and compliance with India’s new machine safety regulations.
