REACH restriction proposal to all 11 Cr(VI) compounds on the authorisation list

REACH restriction proposal extended to 11 CrVI compounds

The ongoing REACH restriction proposal for CrVI compounds has been extended to all 11 CrVI entries on the REACH Authorisation List.

ECHA announced yesterday that its mandate has now been extended from 2 CrVI entries (chromium trioxide and chromic acid) to all 11 entries. They will launch a second call for evidence for the 9 entries in June and the publication of the proposal will be pushed back 6 months from October 2024 to April 2025.

This is a significant development as the uses of the 11 chemicals are for diverse sectors and value chains. Uncertain times for users and end-use sectors as the scope of the proposal is not yet known.
