India’s Chemical Policy Update: Rescission of Six Fatty Acid QCOs
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016), and after consulting the Bureau of Indian Standards, the Government of India has rescinded six Quality Control Orders (QCOs) concerning fatty acid.
The following Quality Control Orders have been rescinded:
- Lauric Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2022
- Acid Oil (Quality Control) Order, 2022
- Palm Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Order, 2022
- Rice Bran Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Order, 2022
- Coconut Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Order, 2022
- Hydrogenated Rice Bran Fatty Acids (Quality Control) Order, 2022
The rescission removes mandatory certification obligations for manufacturers of these fatty acids. However, Stakeholders are advised to stay informed through official Gazette notifications and communications from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
