EU Microplastics (SPM) Restriction: Derogations & Reporting Deadlines
Did you know that certain sectors, as well as on-site industrial uses, are exempted from the new REACH Restriction that bans placing articles containing intentionally added microplastics on the EU market? However, these sectors are still subject to reporting obligations, which are soon approaching.
Are you prepared?
If you manufacture, import, supply, or use synthetic polymer microparticles (SPM) that are intentionally added to products and fall under a derogation within the REACH Restriction, the following critical reporting deadlines apply to you:
- By May 2026: Report 2025 emissions for intentional industrial feedstock uses
- By May 2027: Report 2026 emissions for all other intentional derogated uses
