ESA 4th REACH Workshop

The EU chemicals regulatory system is highly complex and dynamic, with an ever increasing number of hazardous substances selected or considered for the REACH candidate list, authorisation, restrictions or other regulatory measures. Further significant changes to affect industries including the Space Sector are expected in the coming years as a result of the European Green Deal and related policy roadmaps.

REACHLaw experts will be amongst the key contributors at the upcoming 4th edition of the European Space Agency (ESA) “Workshop on the EU REACH Regulation and its impact on the Space Sector” on Tuesday, 18 October 2022 at ESA Headquarters Paris Daumesnil.

This interactive full-day workshop, moderated by our Senior Advisor Agustin Coello-Vera, aims to raise awareness and discuss the current state of play, challenges and risks with regards to EU REACH and other chemicals and product regulations with experts from space agencies, the European Commission, the European Defence Agency, ECHA and different industries.

Our Senior Legal Advisor Tim Becker will present the latest activities in the various space regulatory working groups he chairs on energetic materials, chromates, lead metal, SCIP and the CSS. He will also provide an overview and timeline of important ongoing revision activities for REACH, CLP, RoHS and address the Commission proposal of 30 March 2022 for an Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation.

As part of the final session on managing substitution and obsolescence, our Regulatory Consultant Oliver Reiff-Musgrove will introduce the ESA REACH Tool, a Digital Materials Obsolescence Management Tool.
