DGFT Expands Support for Export Compliance Costs
The Indian Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has updated the TRACE Scheme under the Export Promotion Mission (EPM) – Niryat Disha to make international compliance more affordable for Indian exporters. The scheme helps companies reduce the cost of testing, certification, audits, and other regulatory requirements needed to sell in overseas markets.
What has changed
- The reimbursement limit has increased from ₹25 lakh to ₹50 lakh per IEC per financial year.
- Micro and Small Enterprises can get up to 95% of eligible costs reimbursed.
- Support is available for key standards and regulations such as EU REACH, US EPA, China REACH, EU BPR, ISO 22716, MoCRA, CPNP, and many other testing and certification requirements.
Why this matters
This update lowers the cost of becoming export-ready. It is especially useful for Indian companies in chemicals, petrochemicals, agrochemicals, pesticides, dyes, specialty chemicals, and cosmetics, where compliance with foreign regulations is often expensive and time-consuming.
In simple terms, the scheme helps Indian companies meet overseas compliance rules at a lower cost, making it easier to enter and grow in global markets.
