BIS Regulatory Update: Withdrawal News from Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers
The Government of India has issued major notifications through S.O. 5527(E), S.O. 5528(E), S.O. 5529(E), S.O. 5530(E), S.O. 5531(E), S.O. 5532(E) dated 28th November 2025 by the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals).
These orders take immediate effect and have been issued in public interest after consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
The notification rescinds multiple Quality Control Orders (QCOs) issued earlier under the BIS Act, 2016, covering the following products:
- p-Xylene
- Toluene
- Methyl Acrylate, Ethyl Acrylate
- Vinyl Acetate Monomer
- Ethylene Dichloride
- Vinyl Chloride Monomer
This rescission withdraws the earlier mandatory BIS certification requirements for these products, aligning with the government’s ongoing initiatives for regulatory rationalization and ease of doing business.
