On 23 July 2024, the Ukrainian government approved the “Safety of Chemical Products” regulation, known as Ukraine REACH. This regulation is designed to align with European Union standards, establishing a framework for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) in Ukraine. Ukraine REACH will enter into force on 23 January 2025, at which point a one-year pre-registration phase starts, running until January 23, 2026. After pre-registering, substances will need to be registered by the applicable registration deadlines – 1 October 2026 / 1 June 2028 /1 March 2030 – depending on the annual volume and hazards of the substance.
In parallel, Ukraine CLP was approved on 10 May 2024, and will enter into force already on 10 November 2024, with new notification requirements for hazardous substances.
