EU REACH and the Chemical Industry
After nearly 20 years of negotiation, the European Union and Mercosur ( a customs union covering Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay) signed a commercial agreement in June 2019. This brings a lot of business possibilities for both the EU companies and Mercosur companies once the commercial agreement is ratified. One of the biggest challenges for the chemical manufacturers located in the Mercosur region, willing to export chemical substances to the EU market, is the EU chemicals regulation REACH. This regulation that refers to the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemical substances, came into force on the 1st of June 2007 with the aim to protect the human health and the environment.
Due to the signature of the commercial agreement within EU & Mercosur, and as a response to the requests from the Argentinean chemical industry in regard to the EU REACH, the Chamber of the Chemical and Petrochemical Industry in Argentina (CIQyP), the Petrochemical Institute of Argentina ( IPA) and REACHLaw have organized jointly a free webinar on REACH where following topics will be addressed:
